Jaunt Named to Fourth Annual CNBC Disruptor 50 List

Company takes top honor as only cinematic virtual reality content creator awarded

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Jaunt, the leading producer and publisher of fully-immersive cinematic virtual reality (VR) experiences, today announced its inclusion on the fourth annual CNBC Disruptor 50 list, which honors private companies whose innovations are revolutionizing their industries.

As the leading end-to-end solution for capturing, producing and distributing high quality VR content, Jaunt was recognized for its innovative hardware solution, the company’s award-winning Jaunt ONE camera; its comprehensive suite of tools for composing and processing, Jaunt Cloud Services (JCS); and its fully immersive content catalog which spans travel, film, music, sports and more.

“Being named to the CNBC Disruptor 50 list is a tremendous honor and validation of what we’ve worked so hard to build the past three years,” said Arthur van Hoff, Jaunt’s Founder and CTO. “Aiming to bring this disruptive technology to the masses, and put cinematic VR experiences right in the pocket of consumers is no easy feat, but the team we’ve built, and talented partners we’re working with, are making that a reality every day.”

In the past 6 months alone, Jaunt has grown by leaps and bounds adding several key members to the company’s business team and making a significant international expansion with the launch of Jaunt China in partnership with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) and China Media Capital (CMC). The team has also been hard at work on industry-leading content with Grammy Award winning and iconic singer-songwriters like Paul McCartney and Ray LaMontagne and immersive sports and entertainment experiences with Major League Baseball’s Hall of Fame Tour and the National Football League’s 2016 Draft.

The full CNBC Disruptor 50 list can be found online here. For this year’s list, CNBC once again relied on submissions from venture capital firms through the National Venture Capital Association and the public at large. Companies were then scored using CNBC’s proprietary blend of quantitative criteria, such as the amount of venture capital raised, off-the-record information on sales and user growth, along with qualitative criteria, including originality, scalability and creation of a new market or ecosystem.
