SANTA MONICA, CA – November 17, 2016 – Mattel, Inc. and Jaunt today announced a preferred partnership that will result in several immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences for View-Master® Deluxe VR Headset, the first of which debuts today on View-Master and Jaunt VR. Black Friday VR brings viewers along to experience the excitement of camping out for days, the rush of shoppers snatching up the greatest deals, and the disdain from store employees.
The View-Master Deluxe VR Headset offers an easy-to-use and affordable viewer that allows users to explore any VR experience from landmarks, nature, games and even Black Friday. As a preferred content partner for View-Master, Jaunt will co-produce a series of fun and engaging experiences for all ages. View-Master works universally, across major smartphones including popular iPhone, Samsung, Motorola, LG and Nexus devices.
“The original View-Master has been a staple for generations. We couldn't be more excited to allow original View-Master fans to reconnect with the device that transported them to new places years ago,” said Richard Goldberg, global head of partnerships and business development at Jaunt. “We look forward to working side-by-side with the innovative team at Mattel on View-Master’s evolution into the digital age through virtual reality and producing engaging and insightful content that will continue to entertain and inspire future generations.”
“Developing an immersive experience for holiday shoppers is the first of many VR projects we have in the works, and Jaunt is the perfect cinematic partner to bring them to life,” said Mark Morse, director advanced concepts at Mattel. “The Black Friday VR Experience is a fun, original take on an often stressful holiday kick-off event that consumers can now experience from the comfort and safety of their own home.”
To celebrate the launch of Black Friday VR, the companies are hosting a viewing event tonight at Jaunt Studios in Santa Monica. Attendees will celebrate the partnership and be among the first to view this unique VR experience.
